Sugar Flower Class: Classic Blooms
If you fancy spending a relaxing and creative couple of evenings developing your flower skills, then join us at Anna Cake Couture! Sugar flowers make the perfect finishing touch to any celebration or wedding cake, and this course is the ideal introduction.
We will be creating classic wired roses in 3 different sizes, hydrangea filler flowers and rose leaves to create a pretty posy.
You will learn how to colour and work with florist paste. Your tutor will take you through the essential tools and equipment needed for creating sugar flowers. Over the two evenings, we will cover how to wire large and small flowers and leaves, as well as how to shape, vein and dust the flowers for a more realistic finish. You will tape and assemble the flowers and foliage into a spray, which can be kept as a display piece or used to top a finished cake.
The class is offered in small groups (max 6 students), so you can benefit from plenty of tutor attention. Taking place in Anna’s professional kitchen in the café, the course includes complimentary tea & coffee.
You will take home a beautiful sugar flower posy, ribboned and gift-boxed, plus all the instructions used in the class and plenty of tips and skills for making your own flowers at home.
You will learn the following techniques during the class:
– Colouring and working with florist paste – best brands to use
– Key tools; boards, flower-making tools, foam pads, cutters, wires etc.
– Cutting and shaping petals and leaves
– Veining and wiring leaves and flowers
– How to dust, tape and steam flowers for a realistic finish
